#36 Baseball and Original Sin

(Click on the title to hear the podcast or right click (option+click on a Mac) to download.)

Wherein I go to a Milwaukee Brewers home game (against Atlanta; alas the home team lost, 8-4). My daughter Andrea took me to the game as a gift for Father's Day and she brought along her college roomate, Heidi Heslinga. We got Bob Uecker Bobblehead dolls and saw the celebration of his 50th year in baseball. You also get to hear the famous Miller Park Sausage Races (the Italian won!).

I also begin a series (not in a row, so don't worry) on theology, this time laying out some history of theology and the 5 main points of Calvinism.

Enjoy.

#35 Rambling about Coffee Makers and Cindy Sheehan

(Click on the title to hear the podcast or right click (option+click on a Mac) to download.)

Wherein I pause from my many interviews to talk about a significant personality flaw: my obsessive/compulsive need for constantly trying new things. Unfortunately it leads me astray sometimes.

Check out www.singleservecoffee.com for interesting articles on coffee makers and coffee.

I've added a new link to the right for the Keurig coffee maker.

Thanks for listening; its easy to subscribe through iTunes or Odeo.

#34 Bantering with Bill, Part 2

(Click on the title to hear the podcast or right click (option+click on a Mac) to download.)

Wherein I continue my discussion with Bill Erchul, Professor and guitarist extraordinaire. We talk about his use of the Line 6 Variax. For many years there have been many attempts to make a basic guitar sound like other instruments, through the use of Midi or synthesizers. The Variax is an attempt to make one guitar sound like dozens of other guitars, by digitally modeling actual guitars. Bill has set up his Variax with the 5 different guitar sounds he uses most on one switch, so he can easily switch from one sound to another. His five settings are: Gibson Les Paul, Fender Telecaster, Fender Stratocaster, Epiphone Casino, and Gibson ES175. He also has a Martin D-28 setup on his electric.

Thanks for listening. To subscribe download iTunes or go to Odeo and click on Podcasts and search for "ramblings". Vote at Podcast Alley, if you will. Thanks.

#33 Bantering with Bill, Part 1

(Click on the title to hear the podcast or right click (option+click on a Mac) to download.)

Wherein I sit down with my old friend and roommate, Bill Erchul. Bill is a professor of school psychology at North Carolina State. Bill and I became friends because of his membership in one of Madison, Wisconsin's finest bands, "Broken Bow".

We renewed our friendship 5 years ago and get together at least once per year. Unfortunately, as is true with most middle aged men, all we do when we meet is talk about gadgets and guitars. Our wives think we're hopelessly shallow; what do you think?

As always, thank you for subscribing.
